Join our WSTA OSPI Science Liaison, Johanna Brown, and Kim Astle (OSE Science Teacher), along with our WSTA Professional Development Coordinator, Don Pruett as they update us on their work with OpenSciEd in our state.
Johanna Brown, OSPI Associate Director of Secondary Science, is responsible for middle and high school science in the state. She works with the roll out of OpenSciEd in secondary schools and supports science professional learning and high-quality curriculum adoption.
Kimberley Astle, was the OSPI Associate Directory of Elementary Science and Content Integration, responsible for K-8 science in our state. She led the OpenSciEd Elementary Field Test in Washington and will update us on the elementary pilot and the units that are now publicly released and available for use. Kimberley is now a middle school teacher, teaching OSE.
Don Pruett, Professional Development Coordinator and WSTA/OSE Professional Learning Coordinator shares some "go-to" resources you should review prior to starting an OSE unit. Don will also roll out WSTA’s new role as an OpenSciEd Certified Professional Learning Provider focusing on K-12.
